| Mia Amber Davis was a brilliant light in the plus community. Her beauty was only matched by her open heart and deep commitment to fighting for the rights of all of us. She was the face of our event for the past 2 years because she embodied the essence of what every "fuller woman" should be. She gave selflessly in support of our events in both Canada and the US, leading our Model 101 workshops and participating in our panel discussions to help educate all in attendance about the plight of the movement. She supported us as a burgeoning movement and believed in our mission. We were grateful for her commitment to us, I will forever be grateful for her friendship.
As we deeply mourn her passing, we will celebrate her life and legacy by changing our Woman of the Year Award to the Mia Amber Davis Award of Excellence given to a woman that exemplifies the grace, dignity and selflessness in the movement that Mia would be proud of. Mia, we will forever speak your name.
Below are just a few clips of her remarkable body of work. |
